Confirmed by Coventry Evening Telegraph, 20 November 1957... I don't recall this, but I must have seen it at some stage, and would have known everyone in the CET photo!

A great effort Double thumbs up I seem to remember working out that to do the whole city within the wall, with houses the size from a Monopoly game, would be about 2m by 2.5m.

I wonder if the model is still in existence, possibly hidden away in a dark recess of the school. Be interesting if it could see daylight again!

From the Old England book. This engraving depicts Edward IV in arms, encamped against the Earl of Warwick his arch enemy who is lodged in the town.

Hadn't seen this one before - was this from when the Old Tower Tavern went?

It could be - the Old Tower pub was just the other side of the gate, where those cars are parked. The "olde inn" was demolished in May 1963 - do you know if there is a date for this photo?

No mate it's on Cov Digi so a recent upload I think, Ben? Date looks right though based on the cars visible etc. It's a City Architects collection upload. There is this one as well - those kids must've loved playing in it all!

Just to add to this - I think that's an early Triumph Spitfire in red centre-left - they came out in 1962 so does tie-up date-wise.

Only in Coventry! I love the way, time and time again, people can date photos by the cars and other vehicles that make even tiniest appearance in a scene. I had to go back and look to spot this one. Well done.

Cars (especially with their registrations on show!) and Pub signs are great locators/identifiers for old pics! Thumbs up

Dear all - the architects collection, saved from being part of the CC4 demolition, seems to date up to the late 1970s. I digitised about 10% - they're in the Cov Archives now.

Probably where the Drott is working is the site of Tower house (I think), my mother was born there in the 1920s. Could it be that the driver is our departed friend Norm K ??????? Thumbs up Thumbs up
