On the lamp over their heads there seems to be a letter after the S on the next face of the glass. But I can't make it out. |

It says Ind Coope above the window to the right of the door. I am pretty sure that there are only three letters on the lamps, AS?, can't imagine what that could be. |

I think it does say BASS. On the lamp above the door there is definitely another letter after the S which could possibly be another S. On the two lamps to the right of the door as we look at the photo, there is too much glare/refraction from the panels on the left of the letter A to see any other letter. |

Not likely to be Bass - the typography is wrong.
Bass would be more likely to use their famous 'Red Triangle'.
Bass & Co Brewery was established in 1777. |

BASS was certainly around in 1900, with the red triangle trademark established in 1875.

Zoomed in and it says F. J. Hibell over the door, which according to Fred's Pub section means it's 1903-1905 |

Zooming in also shows Ind Coope and their ownership is confirmed in the index of Ind Coope pubs
The Rose and Woodbine does not appear in the index of Bass pubs |

Could all three signs read 'CASK' as being the main type of beer most pubs sold at that time. |

Do you think it could have anything to do with the "Anti-Suffrage" movement?

Looking at it again it can only be 3 letters as the S is facing the front so whatever A S ? can be. The last letter looks as if it is straight like an E or an F. |

I actually drove up there yesterday. Sadly the lamps are no longer there.

There are 6 faces on the lamps, could all 6 be used (we just cannot see them)?

As the lamps present in the photo, there does not seem to be a preceding letter (based on the two on the right of the photo) but there does look like a third letter (based on the first lamp) and it does look like an E or a B. However the A panel in the second lantern and the first panel of the third lantern are missing the white band at the top, suggesting the panes have been replaced over the years. So potentially the lamps could have had more letters. Until another piece of evidence turns up, I doubt that we are going to solve this. |
