Thanks everyone - for your support. I have some books in the nick of time - some sold already! I gave a couple of performances today, with another one due tomorrow, and it's been well received. I'm ecstatic!

Kaga Simpson Morgana, Your family story was one of the first things I read when I found this forum. So pleased you got to read it Kaga. Shame for the man who drown, yes wonderful country side away from polution of traffic thats disappearing here very quickly. I lay upon a carpet, thats soft and fresh and green, I close my eyes under the willow and this is what I do dream, A land thats sweet with aroma,a fresh and pleasant land, As if smokey smelly exhaust fumes, have gone with a wave of a hand, A butterfly elusive flying through the air, The bees are making honey they don't seem to care, The rabbits in their warren, the mice and moles and rats, They're running around the field, they're running from the cats, A baby fold sucking from it's mother, the lambs are lambing with the spring, Hark hark listen the blackbird is about to sing, Then I awake and realise it was just a dream, There now stands a motorway instead of fields and a flowing stream.

morgana, beautiful poem, the last line could have been written for the farm that lay beyond the slough. I wandered down to the slough today and took the sheep-trod way I heard the birds in chorus sing in hedgerows, full of spring and every field was wet with dew and sparkling in the light and in my childhood heart a song was born that matched the morning fair the music lived for me - and you to share.

Yes it certainly could be Kaga and thank you another wonderful poem from your self. I followed you and I took a look, But then I trod in black sheep muck, Over the fields so green in mass Where lovers meet and splendor in the grass, Your song I can hear oh so clear Which my heart shall hold so dear. Planners say progress when the earth they burn, You and me know nature is stronger one day will return It s stronger than man who thinks they can beat, A wild flower and song bird which will give our great grand children a treat.

Just thought some of you may like this soppy poem ? 50years ago today I married my wonderful wife Jacqueline This poem is dedicated to her What a wonderful life we have both shared I have a feeling we were ordained to be paired. A perfect match right from the start you sat on a bench and I asked for you heart. Some people said it would not last long Well we have proved they were so wrong! you have made me so happy for all the years gone by, you are still the apple of my eye. We've been together for fifty years our love has never faded, we love each other very much and that love has never jaded. With the passing of time Every moment we've spent together Has touched our lives, our souls forever with you by my side we will weather any storm as long as you are with me to keep me safe and warm. As a young man I gave up what some may feel were the best years of my life, Well I gave up nothing because you are my wife you have made me so happy beyond expectation and without you, life would be sadness and full of trepidation Regret, no, why should I do such a thing? for I wear a band of gold, it's called my wedding ring! I am proud to wear this ring as it always reminds me of you, the proud day you said "I will"and I said "I will always be true " Our endearing love cannot be matched that's why we have become so attached Joined by a love that can never be broken that's why this poem is a testament to our devotion, a keepsake, a reminder of our years we have spent together, I look forward to the future and being with you for ever. A part of me will always be you and a part of you will always be me, no matter what happens, that much is certain our souls are as one until they draw the final curtain. Happy Anniversary Jacqueline my Darling Wife Your loving Husband Colin 23 May 2014 Smile

I must thank you both for your kind words. Just the rambling of a very happy man, notice I did not say "old man" . How can I be old? I still believe in Santa Clause. Dreamtime I am in the middle of another Christmas poem. I shall post when done. Thanks again. Colin. Thumbs up

My garden winked at me today, Good night, Good night it seemed to say, We'll sleep through winters cold, there's silence in the garden now, that footsteps should not stir, yet if I stand still, what wealth of noise is there a blackbird breaks from tangled hedge, a merry thrush sings on high, a pigeon scratches through the veg leaves rustle in there fall a twig snaps sharp as a rabbit moves wind whistles through the trees so tall where is the silence now.
