This building was Edgwick Methodist Chapel and when I first went to Edgwick School at the other end of Cross Road in the late 1940's it was the post war baby boom and by the time I was in year 3 I had to go to classrooms in the chapel as an overflow from the main school. Our class teacher was Mr Warner and he had a nickname for every child (about 35 of us in those days) in the class. By the time that we were ready for the next year they had built some extra classrooms at the main school to cope with the baby boom.

baz, sorry about the wrong use of your thread, but one gets carried away, but that picture of the old stairway in between the iron rails, I fail to see what it was for, how old it is, etc, have I missed something or a topic, haven't read them all yet. Kaga.

I am thinking of an old building in Coventry. Water that has travelled from the fields of Hawkes End passes by this building. The previous owner wore - 2 bath stars below a crown, and also likely used a mortar and pestle within the business he owned.
Where am I? Smile Luke.

As there are no responses as of yet I'll add a couple more clues: - The building was founded in the same year as the Wat Tyler's Rebellion. - This is a picture of the grave of the previous owner (mentioned in the previous post) which is about a ten minute walk away from the said building he once owned. Smile

Hi Annewiggy. Yeah, well done, the Charterhouse Coventry / St. Anne's Priory is correct. (1) It was founded in 1381 (the year of the Wat Tyler's Rebellion). (2) The house is next to the river Sherbourne (which comes from Hawkes End, Allesley). (http://coventrycharterhouseassociation.org.uk/history/index.html) (3) The Charterhouse was previously owned by Colonel (2 stars below a crown denoting military rank on shoulder) Wyley (4) The grave shown previously (https://theherbert.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/c06152-3.jpg) (5) And he also owned a pharmaceutical business (mortar and pestle). http://www.charterhousepriory.org.uk/history/ Luke. Thumbs up

Seems I'll have to reveal my photos too of the kids paintings. It is situated in a rail tunnel underpass at the old Radford Aerodrome cut through from bottom of Owenford Rd to Kingfield Rd. The paintings were done by the school Joseph Cash I'm sure.
