15th Nov 1940 Shortly after 6am the 'All Clear' sounded on the few sirens still with power. Thousands of citizens crawled out of their shelters to find out if loved ones were still alive and if their homes and businesses were still standing. The shock of losing so much of our city was, understandably, not possible to hide, and caused much concern among official statisticians. By the next day, however, people started to rally, helped enormously by one very high ranking visitor....
On 15th Nov 2017 11:48am, Slim said: That's what my father and his family did. They crawled out from under the stairs to find the rear of their house in Broomfield Road Earlsdon a pile of rubble. They were lucky; some of their neighbours' corpses lay under rubble. It's sobering to think that if that particular bomb (which, contrary to folklore, they did hear before it struck), had landed a couple of yards nearer, they would have perished, and I would never have been born.

16th Nov 1641 The Puritans ordered that the organ of Holy Trinity be removed into the vestry until it could be sold. The puritans had at last silenced the 'squeaky abomination'. A new organ wasn't re-instated in the church until 1684. 16th Nov 1940 King George VI visits the ruins of blitzed Coventry.
