3rd Feb 1843 In the aftermath of Coventry losing its status as a county, Warwickshire was split into two divisions - the "Warwick Division" and the "Coventry Division" - for the purposes of "assize", or the administration of local laws. The Coventry Division comprised the City of Coventry, together with the Atherstone and Coleshill Divisions of the Hundred of Hemlingford; and the Kirby and Rugby Divisions of the Knightlow Hundred.

6th Feb 1932 On this Saturday afternoon at Highfield Road over 11,000 fans watched Coventry City beat Crystal Palace 8-0 in League Division Three South. The score was all the more surprising as that season Palace had one of the league's strongest defences and were 6 points clear of Coventry.
On 6th Feb 2018 2:56pm, Dreamtime said: Do we know who scored the goals on that eventful day Rob? Bourton contributed maybe.
On 6th Feb 2018 3:08pm, Rob Orland said: I'm pleased to tell you Dreamtime that Bourton scored a hat-trick! Happy I found the information about the match on this page. And in case the link doesn't work for anyone, it says this.... Coventry City 8-0 Crystal Palace League Division Three South - Att: 11,459 Manager: Jack Tresadern Going into this, Crystal Palace were 6 points clear of Coventry in the table and boasted the 4th best defence in the league. So, I am a total loss as to explain to you why Frank White, Jock Lauderdale (2), Harry Holmes, Clarrie Bourton (3) and Billy Lake found it so easy to find the back of the Palace net. Or why the goal machine, Peter Simpson, couldn't find the back of Coventry's.
On 6th Feb 2018 3:43pm, Dreamtime said: A big THANK YOU Rob. Thumbs up
On 6th Feb 2018 3:56pm, Rob Orland said: My pleasure Dreamtime!
On 6th Feb 2018 4:16pm, Midland Red said: I was interested to see that Surrey batsman Laurie Fishlock, who played in four test matches for England, lined up at outside-left for The Glaziers Thumbs up
