Def the Art College. Somewhere near that bus stop was a back entrance where the Principal would bring his car into the college for us pupils to respray. He had to arrange it first with someone to do with Pool Meadow as well as being early in the morning. |

It wasn't just the principal's car I think that there was a nice little sideline going on there |

I'd like to pretend I was eagle eyed but having looked at Britain From Above, I was looking for something in the background. Prior to that I didn't even notice the big white Hippodrome |

A nice pic from Coventry Digital. Sorry, haven't worked out how to link yet.

It's a good one of the flour mill and puts Swanwell into the landscape. |

I think Wheatley Street School helps to orientate in Pool Meadow.

Map location - roughly
A nice picture from Pool Meadow looking south by Herbert Cox. Notice how shallow the water was. Priory Street would have been to the left and Hill Top was right of centre at the top of the hill, heading down to the right where it met New Buildings. The buildings on the right were on the south side of that in Court 7.
A similar view but much earlier and a bit further to the east from Rob's collection.
The Cox picture is for sale on eBay (it was sold at auction last Wednesday for more money than I wanted to fork out with several other Cox paintings). Usual disclaimer - the sale has nothing to do with me.
Cox paintings - the one titled cottages is the back of Ford's. |

I think it must be Helen, though I'm struggling to locate it and that open area/shed on Old Maps. Don't think it was like that for long. |

It's the rear of the properties on Priory Row - they were discussed many moons ago |

There was a wall a lot like the one in the image in the garden of JF Kennedy House (which was on the west side of Hill Top, behind the houses in Priory Row). When I knew Kennedy House the Fairfax Suite of the De Vere hotel was on the other side of the wall and was quite overbearing.
