Two stunning photos, Neil! The poor shattered newly built Pru' and the lovely Edwardian Broadgate in full summer sunshine. First Class!

Neil, I'm sorry if I keep butting in, but I'm looking at them from then, where you're looking at them from now, do you wish me to stop? Now I only see The Prudential Assurance Company Ltd, their normal logo. What is IIRC?

Kaga, IIRC = if I recall correctly (or as MR wrote - if I remember correctly) Thumbs up I don't think that Neil is saying that the company had just opened, he was saying that the building had just opened. Built in mock Tudor it was supposed to mirror the similar building, now known as the Flying Standard, at the end of Priory Row to frame Holy Trinity.

Annewiggy, Going back someway, on post 210 you mentioned Salmon and Gluckstein's shop. They had something like 100 tobacco shops around the country, and Lyons' tea houses in Coventry and around the country. Two sides of Nigella Lawson's family - no wonder she has 110 million in the bank.

It's a good picture Prof but it's not the same event. There isn't any bunting and the message on the Trinity window is missing.

Found it with others Helen, others besides, all purporting to be VE Day. Well spotted! Perhaps then VJ Day? Admit this was Morgana's post from CET.

There's another difference; the crowds in Coventry were civilians, and orderly, the crowds in centre of London, 'squaddies' of all nations and a different scene altogether. Felt you were going down under friendly fire.
