The 40-Thieves/Busters Nightclub was like a cave inside if that's what you were thinking about? |

No, wasn't Busters. That place was my third home during the 80s Second home being the Styvechale Arms.
I reckon I must have got it mixed up with a pub I'd been in somewhere else, like Warwick or Kenilworth or even further afield. |

The Black Horse is no more. I know it's not been a pub for years but I'm delaying having to drive through there as it honestly feels like the heart has been ripped out of Spon End. |

My great-grand uncle, John Lines (1843-1932), married Mary Jane Keene in 1972. She was a daughter of John and Mary Keene, who ran the Black Horse in the mid-1800s. |

The one slight positive I'm hearing is that the pub sign is being passed on to the family of a former landlord. |

As pub demolitions are the current 'hot' topic (!), another view of the Walsgrave Road White Lion coming down.

Let's just hope it wasn't the former who ripped out a load of fixtures and fittings that allowed the pub to be removed from the listed building status!! |

I don't think he was a landlord from its pub days, Joey. I was told that by Councillor Jayne Innes on FB although she quickly removed the reply when she realised people were not happy with it going. |

Ok thanks. She's brave going on Facebook with the current feelings against the Council's intent of demolishing everything in sight that wasn't built in the last 15 years. No wonder she deleted it ! |
