Would it be the old Barracks Market?

I'd go for the Empire Cinema if it's the large building that you're indicating?

Helen or anyone. West Orchard is rarely covered by the camera. Has anyone seen/got an image of that row from ground level at all?

I wasn't looking so I don't recall a decent ground level shot of the foundry etc but there are snippets of it, eg looking out from the market. It probably wasn't that photogenic because of its size. There might be a flyer or ad somewhere with a sketch. There a lot of aerial shots though on BFA, where you could get a decent idea of what it looked like. There are a raft of sketches and some photos of bits of the street but no decent photo taking in the full length.

For those who aren't familiar with Britain From Above. BFA set for Coventry post war 1) Get a login - costs nothing but an email, no spam or any other contact - it allows you to zoom in 2) Login - it logs you out automatically after a while and it's easier to do before you search than after 3) Use the link above to jump into the full list of Coventry images and a few that aren't. I'm not sure if all the outer areas of Coventry are all included as they might be listed by their locality and not as Coventry. 4) It's set to date order and the earliest are on page 1. The link jumps in just after the war so you can choose pre or post destruction 5) Initially get familiar with the general areas so you know what to look for (especially if the photo isn't Coventry) 6) Consider right clicking on the menu image and opening in a new tab because it saves time reopening the menu each time 7) Look at the edges of the photos (especially some of the outlying areas) because you might see a section of the city or a pre demolition bit that you might not notice otherwise eg there is a single photo that captures the Squirrel on Little Park Street post war, out of a series that look identical but the building has been demolished 8) Repeat - because I guarantee you've missed something... lots of things 9) Repeat - because you've still missed things

Hard to imagine now but as children we used to climb over the wall and play in the empty pool. Cannot remember where the hole was now in the side of the pool but we used to dare each other to walk down the tunnel, it was pitch black. At the end of the tunnel was the boiler room for heating the water also where they washed the towels. If you were spotted you ran like the devil was after you. All good fun but we never caused damage, nice memories.

Good evening, My very good friend Mike Musson is webmaster of Warwickshire Railways, a fabulous collection of photos covering a huge area. Of interest in his Foleshill Station collection are several photos recorded in 1931, during the construction of the current road over railway bridge, that replaced the Lockhurst Lane level crossing. Of extra interest to me is the wooden hut, that became the chapel that I have belonged to for many years. My chapel is the long, single storey building just left of the centre of the photo. It was only seven years old then. There are other photos to look at in all directions.
