Some pubs in Coventry also have or had their own micro brewery. The Rainbow Allesley Village, The Fowl & Firkin (now the Ardvark) brewed a beer on site called Dog Bolter

Federation ales were always very reasonably priced. I remember the WMC just up from Fiveways serving their products. In fact, my uncle Matt used to speak of 'Doctor Fed'!

Mick Strong, Farmers brewed their own, there was a great number of Coventry pubs brewed their own in Victorian times. It's not a new thing, surely?

Hi Kaga I didn't intend to imply it was a new thing, just pointing out that it took place and was still taking place. Over the years I have collected vintage / antique glass bottles. I have one that is from The Sydenham Palace, Coventry. It has "T Owen" embossed on it. He was landlord from 1886 to 1913. Do you know if they brewed their own beer or just had beer bottled in their own bottles?

My grandfather (left) and uncle (right), both Robert Watson but both known as Bob, worked at the Federation Brewery together in the late 70s/80s, possibly into the 90s. My uncle worked with a lady called Lorraine who later became his wife and they had a son in 1986.
