On 13th Mar 2016 4:08pm, NeilsYard said: I'm sure I drove past The Peeping Tom a few weeks ago and metal gates were up all around the place/car park. Fear it may have served its last pint and meal.
Further to previous postings, The Peeping Tom is now "Hickory's Smokehouse" Thumbs up

Found this earlier. Work going on at the former Butts Retreat and a new license application for "Hill's Lounge and Bar". Wonder if they are using Jimmy Hill's name for if/when Coventry City relocate to the Butts Park after next season? http://licensing.coventry.gov.uk/

One for Neil here as you go in this pub or anyone else Smile Thumbs up Been looking through Pixrobin's photos and came across this photo. I walk past this a number of times when down in Coventry but I've never seen that crest or marking in the apex of the building. What does it stand for if anything? It looks like three "A" to me, it's a very old pub so I think it must stand for something

Question

Morning all! I wonder if that marking is anything to do with masons or guilds? Sometimes marks were put onto buildings indicating the guild that the builders belonged to.

Hi dougie. I doubt that you'll get any Atkinsons beer as they don't exist anymore but you will get a fine pint of Bass in a pleasant atmosphere. Cheers Cheers

Judging by the number of references throughout the HCF to The Devonshire Arms, I wonder if this lady is familiar to any members?

Hi & yes, Wave I didn't know the lady's name but I remember her, & her husband Jack, from the Devonshire Arms, or the Devon as it was known. Cheers

The Butts Retreat has been open for weeks as "The Kamara Lounge" Amateur isn't the word really. We've not paid the same for an identical round twice and had a pint dropped on us. It won't last long if they don't pull their socks up. Always good for the amusement factor though..
