This photo is the Tally Ho, the Smithfield was right opposite the Coventry Theatre at the end of Corporation St. or Hales St. I remember in the early 70's Lenny Henry and Victoria Wood joining a group of us for a drink and Lenny wearing a sheepskin coat and loafers!!

No! The Spittlemoor was on Lower Ford Street

A great shot of High Street that brings back a few memories. My first car was a Standard 10 on the right and the one on the left looks like a Hillman Minx which was my second car. My mother and aunt would often pop into Waters for a sherry after doing their Saturday morning shopping

I love the way that picture captures the atmosphere of the High Street in the early 1960s. Brings back many memories.

I went to the comptometer school at the back of the building next to the Craven Arms in the 1960's. The chefs from the Craven Arms restaurant used to talk to us across the roofs and they brought a birthday cake across for one of the girls. Happy memories.

Yes I agree, Dutchman. The picture content as well as the angle of the shot almost puts us there.

Bottom of Hertford Street showing the Barracks car park going up. I'm presuming The Three Tuns had a license hence the inclusion here! (there's a Bass on-draught sign!) I'm sure this is where the later day 'pub' got its name from after redevelopment. Also note Peeping Tom looking out on one of his original locations, and is that one of those Scammell Scarabs on the very left - just running down probably from Warwick Road goods yard.
