Here are some more nostalgia pics folks, taken in 1963:
Warwick Row -
Greyfriars Green - you can just see Warwick Row behind the trees -
Don't you love the cars? Now wouldn't like to be driving round in those again?
Enjoy!

Ever wondered what visitors to Coventry arriving by rail and choosing to walk into the city centre are met by?
To the tune of "When the Saints go marching in" (ish) emanating from beneath the Ring Road, this was the view yesterday

An interesting old postcard showing an artists impression of Greyfriars Green from Stoneleigh Terrace with the 3 Spires in the background. The cannon can be seen in the foreground. The card doesn't say if this is from a painting.

Does anyone know whether the statue, that was on Greyfriars Green in the 50`s, still exists and where it is please. I`ve just put a picture, I took of it back then, in my gallery and had intended to say where it is now situated but can find no trace of it on Google maps. |

I think it's on the walk way Warwick Row Greg. I've just read it says it's on a walk way and you could easily miss it, nothing unusual of our historic things the bit that are left.
As they are altering by there from the station not sure if it's still there. |

Have just spotted it. Thank you, AD. It looks to be about where it was when I last walked past it, many years ago. |

As a kid walking to and from school, I usually passed through what I knew as Greyfriars Green park (just in front of a row of estate agents, and by where the toilets were). I seem to remember that there was a weather proof lectern there with a book and that the page was turned every day.
Does anyone else remember this and would the book have been a bible? Question |

Yes I remember this and it was the bible, it was there throughout the war years, my dad always read a page whenever he went to town. |
