Quote; A house, called New House, was shown on this site in 1834; it was later called Wyken Grange and was situated in what is now the Torcross Avenue area, where its name is commemorated in Wyken Grange Road. Pridmore's son, W. F. Pridmore, seems to have lived in Stivichall until the later 1860s, then to have moved to Wyken Grange, and finally, before 1872, to Wyken House near Stoke church. Here the family lived until at least 1900. Wyken House was put up for sale in 1929 and the estate was afterwards broken up for building. Wyken Grange was also demolished for building sites between the two world wars. HELP. Can any one guide me to a map showing the location of Wyken Grange & tell me anymore about it please? Wave

A map of the period doesn't help much Philip as none of the surrounding roads existed back then but it was located roughly in the area I've shaded red on a modern map:

Wave Thank you so much for your help. I have read the info quoted, in fact the quote I first posted comes from the Wyken history site. Also the info on the Coventry walks site. Thumbs up It may be that our friend on here from Modbury, may have had his Cafe on the very site that was once the Grange. I remember that when contractors started to work on the corner of Torcross Ave & Sewall Highway, the work was halted when they found deep cellars. Wave

I remember playing on this site when I was a child before the shops, flats and garage was built. The ground was used to store all the old building equipment of Youell builders, who built most of the area. The end house 178 Sewall Highway was the home of the Shirley family. He was a painter and decorator and there is still a faint painted advert on the side of that house advertising his business.
