Hi everyone,
Just wondered if anyone could answer a question regarding the above, on tracing my family tree an ancestor died of TB at the above hospital. Would he have been buried on site or taken to a family church in Coventry? If on site are there any cemetries still there.
Thank u. |

Hi Gladeprincess.
That will take some answering, as Hertford Hill Hospital was outside of Warwick, not Coventry. The hospital, long gone, now a hotel complex. I will ask at Warwick crem. the next time I am there to see what is known about the burial arrangements for Hatton Hospitals. |

Thank you PhilipInCoventry, I'm hopefully going to be visiting Coventry in the near future with my mum who was born there and wanted to visit the graves of relatives long gone. What churches are in Longford? |

Not a hotel complex, but residential accommodation :
There is a link to Coventry with its Coat-of-Arms alongside the County Bear inside the entrance :

Hi Midland Red, Hi all
I was told that Hertford Hill hospital was originally a TB isolation hospital when first built, before becoming a sanatorium or an asylum. Somehow, where the tie between Coventry & Warwickshire, lies the tale. Maybe it replaced the Foleshill Hall Sanatorium from where we have the connotation of Bedlam, in the name Bedlam Lane.
I have just had the penny drop from your link Midland Red. More than one building! |
