Old Cathedral and Church of St Michael

I took the same photos back in the 60s, they are in my gallery under view from the spire, and my my how things have changed

Thanks for showing the pictures. I haven't been to Coventry for almost 10 years - and then buses still went to Broadgate. The striking picture to me was the one looking down the staircase. It made me wonder which unfortunate person had the job of painting the edges of each step.

Sir Basil's building has aged well, IMHO. Or maybe it's been looked after better than the rest? I have been up the spire a couple of times, but think the kids are too young at the moment. Maybe they should install a cable car. Ho ho ho.

Love the second one, with Trinity beyond

They are lovely, but I'm having one of those 'perspective' moments. If that view is from Priory St, shouldn't HT be in the foreground? Bit of artistic licence by the painter maybe?

No AD, I think you have got your geography a bit mixed up - or maybe you are referring to another picture in another thread. The perspective does look a bit strange though. It is what I would expect from a 24mm lens on a 35mm camera. So, perhaps David Gee was using a camera obscura to make his initial sketches.

AD it doesn't say view from Priory Street it just say St Michaels with Trinity Church. Painters/artists paint what they themselves see also leave out other things.
