Cracker, Ben, though I think that's the one Helen posted in post #65. Rare to capture some of that section on the south side.

It's good to see the progression through the images. The door on the corner of the Pilgrim's Rest was a later feature, as was the pavement. The biggest rarity from the Wingrave photo is the view of the stretch in the distant right. That's part of what makes these zoomable pictures so valuable. Neil, your photo was during the demolition for Trinity Street. The left side was 'new' and had wholly or partially replaced the priory's Meal Hall, which points to it being a big structure. I wonder how many it fed at its peak? There is evidence of cellars on both sides of the road and they may have been much older than the brick buildings. J B Shelton would have been fascinated by this area. Losing his notes and finds during the war was very sad, though he was hampered by not having some of the things we can access today like the Board of Health map and the Troughton drawings (who captured the Meal Hall).

Does anyone know what year the building now known as Burges House was built? It's now that red student block.

It's not mentioned in the CET until 1962, Neil, and Davies Menswear feel the need to explain where they are so that could be a good date to start.

The Scottish Library maps don't show it but they're date ranges so it's hard to pin point an earliest date but 1962 would fit. Well done Anne as usual.

And getting faster Jo, but I think that the place looks better than it did for all the time I lived in Coventry. It looks a lot more cared for.

I think there was a True Form shoe shop there and a very fancy hairdressers on the right ,just before Wimbush's.

I don't know for sure but there was one on the corner with the Bull Ring. The name of the area wasn't always the same. On the 1749 map it was Tittle Row and I think it was Potters Row at one point.

Found this when I googled A W Garlick. Seems he was at # 9 Ruteher Row as well as The Bull Rift in 1910
