Thanks to Dean Nelson on FB. Don't think I've seen this one before. I think its Cox Street looking south towards Jordan Well. Could that be The Old Star Inn on the left? No image of that one, Rob, on the pub site so might be one to add?! The inn closed in 1920 so the picture predates that.

The tall building on the right definitely matches the one in the distance in my post#1 |

Nice find Neil, great old shot that, including the pub's apparently very rare appearance in a photo! (And thank you Anne, too, for the confirmation.) Do you know who owns the picture for us to seek permission? |

I've got a copy, maybe from a book or the original library pics, probably the former. There's more of it and it shows half of the Old Star on the left and more on the other edges too including a code.
It's from a postcard so a copy could belong to anyone but I've never seen it come up. It's a very early one, before the third end of Freeth Street was built, located just after the tall building on the right. |

Interested to see this one. I think it's looking over Cox Street as the new baths go up, however it's taken from (zoom in to the sign on the left) Mill Terrace which I cannot see on my only available online map. Anyone?

In the CET, it was usually referred to as "Mill Terrace, Godiva Street". |

That must relate to the cottages on the left of the billboards. My mate used to live in the 2nd one in from the end. Never knew it was Mill Terrace, only as Godiva Street. Always thought it as funny to go through the front door and step down into the front room. |

Here's a scarce image looking north over to Cox Street - not many images of those buildings on the west side pre-blitz/Uni.

Paul Stevenson on FB has let me post this one of his here - a great period image looking north on Cox Street. Not many include that old row of terraces on the right.
After a lookup the film 'Joanna' is showing on the Alexandra frontage, meaning this must be circa 1968.
