Anne, wasn't a relation of yours WH Yardley at no.7? Would that have been just to the left on those images? |

Hi Neil, the building you can see on the right where the road kinks in, behind the lamp post, is number 15. Number 7 is further up the hill. |

I'm returning to this image because I was wrong about exactly where the photo was looking. It was (as the label hints) halfway up the Red Lion Yard but looking south east towards Greyfriars and Warwick Lane not looking north west towards Hertford Street. The building on the left is the malt house and the building on the right was part of the stables. This explains why there was only one lion. The inn didn't stretch from Hertford Street to Warwick Lane, so no point erecting a lion on Hertford Street. At the other end there was the 2 storey pub with a passageway into Warwick Lane. You can just about see it in the distance. Sorry for the confusion.

An interesting shot, more of Greyfriars Lane, but shows the side/rear of the Queens Hotel. I think that sorting office was not that old there, but didn't last long before the move to Bishop Street.

Worth a copy in both topics I think Neil I've not seen it before and it's a good view of the top end of Warwick Lane. |

There are few decent photos at that end of the street Prof I'd love an image from the same place but before the demolition.
The last two buildings on the left are a lot older than they look. |

Great pic, Neil.
Surprised that RSJs were used so much back then. Mick Strong

Helen, have you seen this one before?
It's new to me. I can see the chapel marked on old maps - appears to be what the Methodist Central Hall replaced? |

I've got other images of the building but no, I've not seen it before (buyers beware, it's a new copy and you would have no legal right to publish). The building on the right was older than the extension on the left. I've not checked the maps or BFA but yes, they were almost certainly replaced by the Central Hall. |
