I loved that one Neil, wasn't there a Peeping Tom looking out from somewhere down there? |

He was down near the bottom of Bishop Street, on the left of the road. Even while he was there he was hard to see from the ends of the street. He was set in a small dormer window in the roof of a small two storey building. |

Neil, I think that there are several versions of this view at different zoom distances and qualities. These are seen in different postcards. If you zoom in to the right, you can just see the building and dormer where Tom made his appearance.

Yes, I think you found it Helen, I vaguely remember an Opticians there with a small display window on an angle as you enter the premises. Mind you that was in more recent times. However, I always thought it an odd place to situate a Peeping Tom.
Thanks for bolstering my memory.

Am I correct in remembering a butcher's shop in Bishop Street in the 1950-60s, with the grammatically incorrect "Meat at it's Best" in very large letters on the wall facing Corporation Street? A Ravensdale Junior School English teacher (Mrs Ison?) gleefully invited us to go and see it, in all its glory. Question True Blue Coventry Kid

Not sure I'd seen this one before - top of Bishop Street with the Canal Office on the left.

Hey, you'd have seen it if you'd looked here!
I have the original photo, so it must've found its way "out there" and has finally made it home! |
