Burges and Cross Cheaping

I think that Sapphire Jewellers started out in New Union Street in the mid 70's. I remember going there with a girlfriend who was buying herself a ring which got stuck on her finger. It was eventually removed with copious amounts of washing up liquid (the ring not the finger ) . Judging by the reaction of the people in the shop this was a fairly regular occurence.

The Burges signage clutter

That's a very arty photo Robin. It says a lot about the past, present and the future with the new building in the background.
