On 13th Jul 2020 12:23pm, Prof said: This is outrageous! Hope you can do something, Neil? Does it include Warwick Row and the house where George Eliot was at school? As if there are not enough high rise student blocks overshadowing Coventry's history. Usually though planning officers get what they want in the end.
No, Prof, it's buildings on Warwick Road, not Warwick Row - photo in the Telegraph article

Yes thank you MR. It looks as if the villas are at the top end of Greyfriars Green on Warwick Road. So hopefully it will not include the Quadrant? Even so it will change the appearance of that area for ever.

Prof. No, they changed the appearance, they got rid of two great elm trees - under one a man died from electric lightning - fields, a racecourse and beautiful park. Thumbs up

Had to share this one from my friend Cliff Berwick in all its large detail. Old Cov looking fantastic! I especially love the 4-legged clock!

NeilsYard, Brilliant photograph at a brilliant time, I would suggest the late thirties. Would the cars fit into that time zone?

It wasn't dated Kaga but the feeling was it was late 30's. Thumbs up

Midland Red Neil's post #92, didn't you post a similar shot, and the clock on the other pavement?

MR It was almost the same shot, but no traffic, except a small horse and cart right under that clock heading into town, but forget the topic?

Manor House, I did go through this topic first, the picture above not there? So mods, was there a different name, or the row of that street up to the station?

Kaga, do you mean Eaton Road, which is the road that goes to the station?

Annewiggy I'am sure it was the same spot looking down Warwick Road, just an old man with his donkey cart, with the clock on the right, but what are the houses on the left before Stoneleigh Terrace?

Kaga, there is a picture of Neil's number 70 in the Stoneleigh Terrace topic with a clock on, is that the one you are looking for?
