Helen, these embedded enabled images from Cov Digital are superb - have you seen how much detail you can get by zooming in! Thumbs up

More Freeth Street gold from Coventry Archives. This one is damage to the properties seen from the other direction in post #4. You can see the Gaumont Palace in the background on Jordan Well.

Yes, Neil, they're brill. Thumbs up I managed to photograph many of these when they first came into the Herbert but they've subsequently scanned the originals so no wonky angles or light glare. Modern scanning is why they're zoomable while the original ones from Pictures of Coventry are not. There are some yummy ones from Spon Street in the pipeline.

Love these Freeth Street photos. My Nan was born at No 17 Freeth Street in March 1891.

Derrickarthur - this is labelled as no's.17 & 18 Freeth Street, obviously just prior to demolition but great to see for you and us all if it is (again, thanks to Culture Coventry Trust/Coventry Archives). It's looking south. It only looks like enough space for a single house but looking at Old Maps they were tiny properties with Court no.3 behind, so back-to-backs. I'm not totally sure the numbers are right as that end gable behind makes it look more like no's.2 & 3, but interesting to see all the same. What do you think, Helen?

More Freeth St on the Cov Archives - nos.4-7, which were the row at the end on the left in the distance in my post #4. The photographer is looking towards Jordan Well.

Not 100% on this one from the Cooper Collection but is this looking in to Freeth St from New St looking south?

A drawing from a Newspaper snippet but an unusual view - I'm thinking looking NW towards New St - with an unusual roof structure?!

CliffB pointed out this painting to me which is in The Herbert - its the same view as the drawing above (and the same Lamp post!) I hadn't realised that was an Off License. By the final directory appearance for the Street I have for 1960 there was only one property left listed. I think the Off License section is the same one visible in the post at the start of this thread viewed at the end from Jordan Well (post#4) -
