It's looking very good, I'm only hoping it won't be ruined by graffiti. I think that BrotherJoybert and MR should be hired by the City of Culture lot, since it's the best coverage of the work I've seen, though that might be because I'm not in the area. If the city wants outsiders to come, they need some external promotion. Maybe I just don't frequent the right places to see the adverts?

The mural in Coundon Hall Park is still intact after nearly a couple of months. I also hope these works of art are not ruined by graffiti.

It was vandalised a couple of weeks ago with some very amateurish tags... the artist came out the next day and fixed it. It's coated in clear anti vandal paint varnish or something like that so it wasn't too difficult for Katie to sort it. If they can find them, they are hoping to invite those who did it - looked like young kids - to a graffiti painting workshop to improve their skills and educate them on why it's not a good idea to ruin artwork.

Here's "Electric Future" by Dan Kitchener (DANK) all finished. A quick worker! On the Friday when I chatted to him the head of City of Culture (Chenine Bhathena) and Trish Willetts the leader of Coventry Business Investment District both turned up so I got to have a natter with them. Coventry BID and the City of Culture Trust are funding the Street Art programme. Trish said she really appreciates what I'm doing (I have a video page on facebook so post and share everything in there too). The Nomad Clan mural on the wall of the New Union Street car park was due to be completed today (Sunday). Visited the duo this afternoon and had another chat with them. They actually didn't realise just how big the wall was until they arrived in Coventry as they had only seen a photograph of it from distance which didn't really indicate the scale of the thing Big grin

The mural by 'Nomad Clan' on a wall of New Union Street car park. The pocket watch is burning to reflect climate change - very apt considering what is happening right now.

New mural at Poplar Road, Earlsdon. Words from the artist: "This piece highlights childhood cancer awareness month and local charity Pass The Smile For Ben and also the history of Earlsdon and Coventry. The pocket watch, the high street, the kites that inspired Sir Frank Whittle on Hearsall Common all added to speak to the community and hopefully spread more joy and hope to the area. I hope it might spark off imagination and the childlike wonder we all have in us."

Nothing says black actor/manager of a theatre than a nondescript wire manikin holding a watch, set on a closed furniture shop some distance from the location of the theatre but close to a street where watches were made by mostly, if not exclusively, white people. Roll eyes

Here's a mural that was commissioned by Coventry City Council that has recently been completed at Pool Meadow. It's on boards so will likely only be there for a few years. Painted by local Cov & Warks artists.
