Just curious, as we have a lot of tattoo artists here in Perth but can't recall any in Coventry. There seems to be so many girls having them these days, my daughter having a Celtic 'T' but drew the line at a 'sleeve'! |

There used to be one up Far Gosford Street (maybe still is) in the 1980's |

A quick internet search reveals there are 20 tattoo establishments in Coventry. Whether all of those are currently trading remains to be seen. |

The one in Far Gosford has, I think, moved on.. The one near Spon End Arches never appears to be open these days. Just old and knackered

Norman, would that one near the arches have been there 40 years ago, as I am familiar with the area and I just can't place one there then? Question |

No Dreamtime, it was Lowe's the butcher.
This one in Gosford Street in the mid-1960s was barely bigger than a kiosk. I misremember it as being next door to the amusement arcade but it clearly isn't.

I can recall going to the Capitol gym in Longford on a Sunday morning in the mid to late 70's when it was a snooker hall a couple of my mates at the time had their tattoo's done there I never had one done myself it looked too painful we used to go to the pub across the road afterwards where the lads would try bragging that it didn't hurt yet they were definitely shedding the odd tear half an hour before. |

Thank you for your responses lads. Have you noticed how small these Tattoo establishments are. Someone may prove me wrong. My son has just paid us a visit from Cairns and he has acquired two lovely swallows on his 'pecs' and believe me IT DOES HURT, he could not lift his arms up for a few days after. |

Dreamtime. No, it wouldn't have been there 40 years ago. It was between Melbourne Rd and Hearsall Lane, Spon End. Just old and knackered

Mickey Bee has operated from Far Gosford Street since the late 70's. I had my first from him in 1982, and it was appalling.
I went to the USA in 1985, and the tattooists over there are a class act. they 'rescued' it.
I last saw Mickey Bees 'name' on a studio in Foleshill Road opposite the derelict Ritz cinema just over from the humpback bridge on the way to Bedworth. |

Must have taken the hairdressers shop.
I don't know if we are talking about the same tattoo artist. The one in Far Gosford St was a friend of my son in the 90s and he did some good work on his arm. He also did a couple of tattoos on my granddaughter and they were OK. Next time I am in Longford area I will pop in and see if it's the same guy. Just old and knackered
