No one is being ignored here Bad Boy. It is sometimes simply the case that no one on here as yet knows the answer to a particular question. It happens to all of us on occasion. I'm not exactly a huge fan of introductory threads myself. Some forums make a feature of them, some don't.

Oh, that's certainly not the case Bad Boy, there was nothing wrong with your messages at all. I noticed a pattern though, which might explain the responses (or lack of) to your various topics.... The two topics that received no answers were "Chris & Bubble" and "Coventry Choristers Football League" Probably too cultured for this lot!!! However, the topic of yours that got a good response was "Restaurant" which simply confirms what I've noticed about the members of this forum.... any mention of food and they suddenly get very interested indeed! Now where's that tin helmet.... I'm outta here!

You will need more than a tin helmet If I catch you Rob, you will get your 'bottie' smacked, you are not too old you know. Seriously now, quite a few members on this forum are so 'cluey' with information and I for one rely on them for most of it. So If any of my queries are not followed up then who cares - on to the next. (I am still waiting to hear if anyone knows anything about the old Navigation Inn (now gone) Cheers everyone, I am off to prune the lemon tree, a job I hate !!!!

Hello all, hope I've got this right, but you see I'm nearly at my 89th b'day so although I do try to keep up with the modern world there are times when I have the feeling that either I'm slipping into a time warp or the world seems to have changed gear while I wasn't looking. Lived in Cov. all my life until about 40 years ago, so the old city has changed a bit! Anyway up, as they say, I'll leave it there for the time being, see if anybody's interested. Best to all. We all like to hear about school-days, working life, shops and pubs you remember or used, things like that are so interesting, especially as so many establishments are long gone. So I hope you share some with us.

Hello Bernard, Hope you enjoy reading what is on here as well as all the pictures. Should keep you entertained for a few hours. A happy 89th birthday to you (in advance). You should be able to give all of us a few snippets of what your life was like when you were younger. Look forward to them.

Hello Bernard, always nice to welcome a new member to the forum. I see you lived in Vine Street at one time. I grew up in Hillfields and went to Freddies School. We would go to the Vine Street Annex for Drama. I lived in Coronation Road opposite the Slipper Baths. Look forward to reading your memories on here, regards Jan.

The shop used to be a greengrocers. The room above was for the boarders, must have been about eight in that room. The house at the rear of the shop was run by a Mrs Brown and she took in lodgers. They were away all week tarmacing, came back Friday night then left again Monday morning. If you have read my book Old Ma Brown and the lodgers are in it. Lol, they livened up the area on a Friday night.

Thanks scrutiny I haven't long had your book but someone else is reading it first, they say it's a brilliant read. Old Ma Brown sounded a right character and well capable of keeping all the Tarmac men in order! Thanks for sharing that

She certainly was, heart of gold but ruled with an iron fist. When her grandchildren came I used to play round there, come tea time I would sit at the kitchen table and have tea with them. I can always remember the Irish stew, loved it. The best part was I could then go home and eat my own tea. I was always on the lookout for an extra meal, lol. Had a lot of friends, also a lot of extra meals. BLISS.
