Did you have church walking days in Coventry (a day of witness) like we did and still do up north, if so do you still have them, June is the start of the walking days for the churches up here but there's very few walks these days other than children, not like it was in the 50/60/70s. Two photo's here, they may bring back memories for some

Oh my Looks like you didn't have Church or Sunday School walking days in Coventry it must just be a northern thing, Trinity Sunday or jelly Sunday as it was called in the village of Downall Green everyone turned out to show their faith by walking or watching others that did

Hi Dougie, hi all Wave I have seen pictures of church walks in Coventry & Bedworth. Let's hope that some of us on our forum can find them. Cheers

I know it's not a Coventry related video but the thread was moved on to here, it's to show the local church walking day as it was yesterday, sorry to say it's only a shadow of the walks in the 50/60s but very few churches walk these days as they have to pay now to have the roads closed Better in full screen: Non-Coventry walking day. PS. Let it run, there are a few of my Coventry video's that follow the two walking day video's

I think the Bedworth ones were called 'Whit Walks' and held at Whitsun, never mentioned today.

I have fond memories of the Bedworth Whit Walks or "Treats" as they were known locally. As a boy I went on the walks with my local church on a number of occasions to join with the other churches and Sunday schools in the town, and they were considerable and well-supported events.

Not sure where this one is but the banners mention Radford and Well Street - ... but this one is outside the old Public Baths in Priory Street - I'm presuming these are 'Walking Days' and not protests!

Oh yes, we loved the 'treats' led by the vicar, sunday school teachers, and the choir, it was a great event in a rural quiet village life, kids loved it, for it was the one time when the whole community met, walked, nods and hello's, sang, it was lovely to have parents talking and singing together, yes, we pulled those banners together. So different than being in church.
