Just to emphasise the state of retail in the UK. This was, of course, the Co-op in the Lower Precinct.

Very little of the land in Coventry city centre belongs to the city's inhabitants via the local council these days - if that were ever true. Landowners can impose almost any restrictions on what can happen on their land.

A brief pause in Westwood Way on my trip back from the supermarket allowed me to take this "Awaiting Rain" image.

After the forum breakfast yesterday Steve and I tried out a couple of my latest cameras.
The bottom picture is of the chimneys to the Flying Standard but taken by Steve from a viewpoint just in front of the Godiva statue in Broadgate.

I reckon it's a security measure.
Criminals and malcontents could video or take stills of an area they were interested in.
Then they could study and plan at leisure in the privacy of their own home.
Not to be encouraged in my view.

In January 2018, the Telegraph reported :
Work has begun on a new 614-bed student development with a cinema, gym and rooftop terrace in Coventry city centre.
The accommodation block, on the junction of Friars Road and St Patrick's Road near to the railway station, will have 614 bedrooms.
Being built by Crosslane Student Developments, it will take less than two years to complete and is scheduled to be finished before the start of the 2019-2020 academic year.
It comprises of six residential blocks, each at different stepped heights of three, seven and ten storeys, rising to a 20 storey tower in the south-west corner of the site.
The building is laid out in a V-shape forming a large private courtyard, where students will be able to study, socialise and relax.
Here's a view taken last week of the work in progress
