Hi, a big thank you to everyone that has posted memories of my dad, it means a lot to us as a family to have validated by others the love that we feel towards him, I am rejoicing in hearing other people's memories. His funeral is on Monday 12th at Cannon Hill Chapel, all will be welcome, bless you all for remembering him. Moe

Hello to you, Moemac & welcome to our forum. Thank you for your post, made at a very difficult time.

Moemac, I'll see you Monday, put this on hoping people would respond in the way they have, great memories of a great guy, thoughts with you and all the family at this sad time.

How amazing it was meeting everyone again yesterday evening, thank you all for such a warm welcome. Not only was Mac a father and husband to a wonderful family, but he was the father of a huge extended family spanning several generations. I'm extremely proud to have been a part of that, and enjoyed my growing up years (I use "growing up" cautiously in my case!) under the guidance of the best Group Scout Leader ever!

Rob, can't say anymore to what you've said, brought back so many great and lasting memories, what a great send off for a great guy, fitting tribute

Ok, The great walk up 'Cader' is on!!! 21st June is the date so get them boots on and come and join in, All info for the event you can get from moemac or garymac should be a great event to remember 'Mac' Now Ive said all that I cant go!!! but I'll be there in spirit and Rob if you know of any one else that would like to do this please let them know. Im trying to spread the word, should be quiet a sight us old buggers trekking up a mountain!!!!!!

I was in the 7th Coventry Scouts in the 1960's. Later my son went through Beavers, Cubs & Scouts in the same group. My elder brother was also in the 7th in mid to late 50's. I have a number of photos and will upload in due course.

Brilliant post. Brings back lots of fond memories. I was in the 47th. Wyken group, cubs and scouts, based along Wyken Way. I am told that it is still based there. We were attached to St. Albans Church. Spent many years in the cubs, did not enjoy the scouts so much, not sure why. Then changed to The Boys Brigade at Heath Road Church. My brother was in the 37th. Wyken, based somewhere off Farren Road I think. My sisters belonged to guides and brownies at Heath Road Church. I do have contact with other people from that era, also know somebody who has lots of photo's.
