Hi Morgana, As well as in our room here at home, Hounds Hill is on Ordnance Survey maps in Corley. It is visible from Five Field Lane (renamed Fivefield Rd) Signal now installed. Wave

I was trying to figure out what was that wooden-framed contraption in the background then it finally dawned on me it was a mirror! Blush

Hi Dutchman Wave It shows the state of the fiddle-yards, viewed from the seated control position. Also the uncoupling ramps which detach the loco at that end. Thank you for your comment. Thumbs up

Our railway tends to be a big boy thing, but I am so delighted that our lady members have always entered into the full spirit of the theme. With you ladies in mind, I hope it is you who are responding to the D-Di ice-cream van chimes as it appears. I shall keep my eyes open for one of their bigger vans which were also part of our growing up days in Coventry.

I suspect it belongs to a customer at the Albany pub and was the first (private) car I travelled in after I arrived in Coventry. A few years later they could be found abandoned on bomb sites all over the city. *The first vehicle I travelled in was an FX3 taxi, also built in Coventry.

Then I don't expect you played on as many bomb sites as we did? There was often a wreckers yard nearby and they relied on us kids to smash the cars up before they were finally dismantled.

Mid-60s.

Nope, but they were almost all the same post-war made-for-export sedan-style body and always with black paintwork.

Philip, have you ever found a model of the Armstrong/Siddeley Railcar no.2 that ran from Leamington to Coventry dating back to the 1930's.These were built at Armstrong-Siddeley's Parkside factory - see photo - but would love to see it passing Hounds Hill station
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

Hi Baz, No, but I know the vehicle that you are referring too. I would need to scratch build or adapt a kit to have something like that. The model manufacturers have all cottoned on to the fact that if an item appears at one of the preserved railway locations, then it is worth tooling up to make it. Thank you for your comment & best wishes. ps. A feature of that railcar was that it had pneumatic rubber tyres. No good for electrical pickups on a model. Smile
