This is the only photo of Perkins Street that I managed to find (can't remember where or when I found it, but it was quite sometime ago). If I remember right, it was suggested it was c1973 but I don't believe the street would have still there by then, as the new Sidney Stringer school opened in 1971? The car models suggest late 1960's?

That picture and several others are at that link above for Coventry Digital, only you could zoom into the gap. It's from a group that says 1960s |

Four lines down at EPW044035, you can just about see Perkins Street. Orientate yourself and then look through some of the other images for other or better versions. If you get a free login you can zoom into the images. The search is roughly date order.
Found some good shots within that batch of photos, some before and one after the war, where you can see the missing houses. Really helps to give a good mental picture of the place. Thank you so very much Helen.
I'm having some issues with my login for the Coventry Digital site, but will take another look tomorrow. |

Thank you to everyone that helped. I've learnt a lot about Hillfields and specifically Perkins Street, Sidney Stringer School and how it all changed. I've found some incredibly interesting photos and maps that have helped enhance my memories as a young child c1967 walking along Perkins Street with my mum holding my hand, going to see my gran. Thanks again for all the tips and pointers to websites and archives. Great stuff. |

If you go on the St Peter's Church website, there is an old shot of the cottages but not very clear. |

Not saying I'm slow but I have only just found out St Peter's Church, Charles Street, has become student accommodation.
Just to add, apparently the flats, Cephas Court, are owned by Orbit Housing, so maybe not students? |

In 1969 I met my first wife in St Peter's Church Hall, which is just to the right of centre.
By coincidence, in 1972 I was working for G W Deeley the builder and they were constructing, if my memory serves me right, a care home on the bare plot in the middle of the picture.

In the top left hand corner of this photo looks just like the house my grandma and grandad lived in at 20 Wellington Street, across from Barbers. There were nine kids and the boys had the top shop set up like a military barracks room and the girls shared a bedroom on the floor below. |
