Happy Birthday for yesterday Philip, you share the day with my daughter who has never forgiven me for having her on the 1st April! You also spent it in an area I know well, but again the church there now is not the same one that I attended Sunday School. |

Hi all, and thank you all so much.
The sadness of the funeral was lessened by the fact that the service was a thanksgiving service for Barbara's life. The day before she died, Barbara was not in bed or resting. She was volunteering as part of a regular commitment, keeping the home of a disabled person clean. It does not get much better than that. A lady who cared.
Under normal circumstances, I would never accept an invitation to play at a service at such short notice, but I did so, purely out of love and respect for Barbara and her family. |

Hi all
Our Wednesday morning 10am breaky meet took the form of a full breakfast at Decks in the Ricoh shopping centre. At eleven there was a further meeting with some of our forum friends which was so nice. It is good when folk all of different interest & persuasions are able to meet & enjoy company. Sadly though for those of us bogged down with retirement commitments (please make a note of this, Rob) my friend John went to mow a meadow. At least his is a meadow, not like my wilderness.
John has not got a dog to go with the song, but he has a black cat. Will that do? |

Hi all
I am so excited today, as I am meeting another forum member this morning. A different venue, today too.
Whatever you are up to, please enjoy as we only have a couple of spring like weather days, before the words wet & windy start to appear. |

Lovely to meet you and John today Philip, thank you for the coffee, and guess what, when we went into the record office I got chatting to a very nice lady who turned out to be our Helen so I killed 2 birds as they say. By the way the document was from a Richard KING not THE KING |

That looks like a Ford Popular - their headlights were slightly smaller than it's "sister", the Ford Anglia. |

Yes a Pop. I was taught to drive in a Pop at the Palmer School of Motoring by Mr Denning, that would have been 1950. On passing my test I bought a used Pop for the simple reason that I knew no better. With its 6 volt system and dodgy wipers it was best left at home on a rainy night. Its side valve engine was a tad thirsty and not very sharp but with the car's cross leaf suspension (pram springs) it was best not to try and drive too fast. After saying that I got quite attached to my Pop, I sold it to a friend for £5.00 and he ran it for a couple more years.

Ah the old vacuum wipers, they worked fine on tick over but when you opened the throttle it robbed the suction from the wipers and slowed them up. Some of the trucks also had this system but they had a small tank to hold some reserve vacuum which worked better.

Hi all
The above picture from the Coventry Library site, actually shows my mum's car, parked the Swanswell side of White Street. Her shop was next to the no.9 bus stop on the opposite side of the road, which is why she would never park it outside of her shop, unless she was loading or unloading stock.
