Ah, thank you so much Dougie, you're very kind!
Regarding my collection.... I'm mindful that our members like the convenience of being able to access photos "on site", and some are not so familiar with the quirky ways of the new Coventry Digital website, so I'm trying to make as much available here as I can, and where possible, copyright-free. |

Since I last posted in this thread I've done a bit more scanning, and 67 more images are in my collection - including the 49 Dr. Troughton sketches from Mary Dormer Harris' book. I think I know who might enjoy those most! |

Little happy dance. They should issue a book with the rest. Smashing Rob
The 1896 Architect's drawing alternatives for the Council House are interesting, especially the Earl Street stretch. It shows an early front to Wheelers and one of the remaining Earl Street Shops on the left. |

Slight improvement to the messaging feature today:
The Bold and Italic buttons are now available, plus the "Link" button, so if passing on a website URL to someone in a message, you can use this button to make it clickable for the recipient. |

After delving into eBay, particularly the relatively recent collection of Coventry postcards to appear there, I dived in and picked up 27 lovely postcards - the cheaper end of their range, not the £30+ ones! Nothing too ground-breaking, but all interesting in their own way, and part of our past.
As usual, these can now be viewed in the Rob's pics collection. (Order by "Most recently added first" to see the new ones.) |

The picture of Bishop Street is a particularly good one. Thanks again for your generosity Rob. |

Thanks to a great idea by one of our moderators, a new category has been introduced - "Streets and Roads" - to more easily group threads about specific Coventry streets.
Additionally, when viewing specific topic categories, the topics (or threads) within are now ordered alphabetically by title, unlike the general forum topic index, which remains "latest first". |

Thanks, Rob. A further new category - "Buildings" - has also been added
Hopefully, members will find today's changes of benefit when using the forum. |

I couldn't decide which topic to put this link, but this I thought was the best fit:
The Historic Coventry website as it was on 22nd June 2003

LOL, I've been ogling quite a few of those. I like the gateway for Stivichall Hall. We've almost a full set of the views in that area. Lots of novel views and some very good versions of familiar streets. The one of Bishop Street is particularly good. |

There's a new improvement to the search facility, allowing you to narrow down a search in two ways:
An initial search for a particular word in a post will bring up all posts by all members that contain that word (as usual).... but just above each post's topic title is a new button allowing you to "Search only within this topic".
Additionally, beneath each posting member's name on the left is another new button, allowing you to "Search only this member's posts", to further narrow down a search if, for instance, you're certain that it was a particular member who posted the item you're trying to find.
If any of these two new buttons are clicked, they get replaced by a "reset" button to revert to either Search all topics or Search all members' posts, or both.
It's a feature I've wanted for a long time, so it's about time I bloomin' got 'round to it, eh! |

Another hopefully helpful tweak.... now, when typing posts or editing, pressing Ctrl+i, or Ctrl+b together on your keyboard will have the same effect as clicking the Italic or Bold buttons, respectively. |
