Hi all
I cannot claim to have ever been romantic. It's not that I did not like girls, so much as I was always frightened of them. My first real date was with Pam, which was on a Saturday evening in August 1965. A fine weather day. We dined at the Alpha restaurant in Jordan Well. After which, we walked through the length of Greyfriars Green. That was it.
A couple of months later, Pam & I were pictured attending a wedding at Bedworth Parish. She quickly learned the drudge of having an organist for a boyfriend. This may be the first picture of us together.

A couple of pics of me. One with my elder cousin Jennifer, and the other with mum. I have full leg plasters in both of these pics.
That would be the theme of my life up to the age of about ten. After, it was just long periods in Paybody Hospital. |

At age of eleven, I was at last free of leg plasters. Dad was away abroad on car test, so mum took me for a holiday to spend with cousins in Cornwall. Mum had her own smart car then, driving, with John on the right of me. Mum was taking us to Wadebridge for a day's trainspotting.
People used to think that we were brothers. This was a big venture time for me as I was free of the leg plasters. There were two more years of lengthy surgery, but that was not in my mind here, where I was feeling as free as a bird. The front seat of the car was a full bench seat, which is why we are both in the front seat. A few breaches of health and safety there! Jennifer recorded the picture. She died two years ago.
