Philip, that's great news - how I do envy you, mine's in for the rest of my days, has to be changed every three months, two nurses and five catheters yesterday and god almighty pain, in the end had to send me twenty miles to the hospital (Haywards Heath) to get it fixed. |

Hi all and thank you,
I note the word "work" mentioned. Werk, what's that?
My daughter-in-law, working for Boots, is working on a "get younger pill". So being her guinea pig, I am 17 next birthday. Need to do my driving test.
Another first for many weeks is that today is Belgrade day. I shall only have five bacon butties today as I don't want to overturn my recent weight loss, hey. Are they on prescription, MR!
I tell you what though in all honesty, decorum now please - my experience of the NHS, both at my local surgery & UHCW at Walsgrave has been fabulous, reminding myself that this recent illness all started for me when snow was several inches deep everywhere. For all of the scare stories, and yes, some things do go wrong, our health service is run by humans, most do it with a passion for caring. Sometimes we can help ourselves by using a bit of common sense. This was a wake up call for me when it started, a fright too, so I was determined to do everything to the letter throughout. I didn't miss an appointment, was there in plenty of time every time, even had opportunity to visit in-patient friends.
At the TWOC (trial without catheter) clinic on Monday, there were patients boasting that they hadn't bothered keeping to instructions. Twelve were booked for the clinic, eleven eventually turned up, four were very late, we were all to be there for 8.30am. So it comes as no surprise that at noon that day, I was the only one of the eleven to be discharged fullfilling all of the requirements. So, I am now on a fortnight's return to normal, hopefully.
Best wishes to all of our members who have health issues, families too.
Before I get too carried away with being a good boy, I have to remind myself that this whole scenario was made worse by me delaying seeking help last year. A bad mistake.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Phil. Our son had a heart attack a few years ago when he was 39. He got all the treatment he needed straight away, stents fitted etc. To MR I was going to say that he is lucky, now he is in the NHS system with his heart they should keep checks on him and do the necessary. |

Good on you, Philip, but for one awful moment I thought you were going to tell us you were going to give up your bacon butties, but I believe in the golden rule - everything in moderation. Hope you continue to look after yourself and keep in good health.
Oh, just had a thought, does this mean Pam will do less baking now!!!!! |

Hi Dreamtime
Hope you ok. Pam officially retired last Monday, so she may increase her output in our care-home.

Hi and thank you Tricia.
Friday to the date, 7th Sept 1968, but Saturday to the day.
Friday is matron's shopping day and Saturday (2nd Saturday in the month) is church cleaning morning, the chapel we were married in.
Our honeymoon was one night in Stratford, but as I was organist at the same church and the following day was a choir presentation of a harvest cantata "Garnered Grain", Pam was in the choir too, attempts to find a stand-in organist had failed, so we weren't going to let the side down. We had received loads of honeymoon offers, but we had our new home and Pam had to get used to her new name. Most will have heard of working lunches, well this was a working wedding weekend. |

Well done both. That 50 includes 50 years of good food without leaving the house too. A bonus. |
