Hi all
Quite a busy morning for me with a couple of chores, but how nice to receive a msg from my son who was working in Tamworth, the msg read "on way home dad, do you fancy a half at the hare & hounds?".
So there it is, I enjoyed a pint (not a half) of "Bass" at the Hare & Hounds in Keresley. I could not see any hares but they did have some rabbits running around.
Do have a good day all, particularly as several of our members have treasured memories for this month of September. |

Hi all
I love Mondays. I have deliberately waited to this time in the afternoon to post this as I am sure that Mondays are not everyone's favourite day and I have no wish to rub that in.
Ok, I am retired, but I still arise before 7am. Pam is in work early on a Monday, so Monday is generally my housework day. I usually liked Mondays when I was at work, as it was at least a day where I could get jobs done. I do hope that all of our members have enjoyed or are still enjoying this sunny September Coventry Monday, whatever you are doing. |

Hi all
View of Costa-del-Coventry from inside the Greyhound pub. Very good the meal was too.
Whilst some residents have a fabulous view.
Yet our city planners sent our city centre river into a tube. |

Hi all
Losing the lovely weather of late has prompted me to go in search of a bun this morning. I cannot cure the world's problems, that are probably little worse than they nearly always are, but just for a few minutes, sticking to a very sticky bun does at least bring it all in to perspective. Simple things for simple minds, which suits me.
Please have a good day all. |

Hi Norm
It's called cap-in-hand. I wish that you had joined me today, as my efforts to find a sticky sticky-bun have failed. What use is a sticky-bun without stick. So I settled for a round of toast with latte at cafe Italia. Such are the rigours of retirement, hey!
On a serious note, F sharp will do, since stopping from adding sugar to anything that I eat, I am now enjoying flavours that in the past I have masked with sugar. No joke, I sank a pint of "Bass" at the Greyhound, with two hands holding the glass in one instalment. It was fab! |

Hi all
A few Saturday morning chores sorted, all in Holbrooks so a light refreshment is called for at the old folks home that I live in called home.
The calling bell is to call matron. I will need to be a bit careful as I am loving a drink now more than ever. It's all I am sure since I cut down on sugar last February. I am tasting food with a sense of joy that I have been missing for most of my life. I love this "Tribute" Cornish ale, and I have fallen in love with Yorkshire "Landlord". There are local brews that I enjoy too, which include Byatt's Range of Ales.
Oooow glug!
I have just noticed that Mexican Wrap sarnies are on today's tea menu. I have struck fortune with the matron on duty here. I will let you know if we have any vacancies.

Hi all
What a fabulous day today that I have enjoyed. Upon leaving the breaky, an errand brought me home, but unbelievable, "I ask you", my Pam had decided to go to Fosse Park with my daughter-in-law. Well, I was not going to take that sitting down, so I stood up. Half an our later, I was back in Coventry centre, middle of the afternoon, enjoying a coffee at the Belgrade, where I was still reflecting at the delight of this morning's meeting. An hour later, I was aboard the no.16, on my way to the Wallace in Keresley. Sadly, the Wallace was heaving, so another bus journey took me to the Hollybush (the old Holbrooks pub) where I met up with my son for us both to enjoy a curry. I mention the Hollybush, as where else can two go for a good quality curry, drinks as well as a starter for £16. For the two of us that is.
I did enjoy my breaky at Wetherspoons. Four of us had the porridge, mine with banana & honey. Brill
For all of its warts & things that aren't so clever, I am so glad that I live in Coventry. I do get so excited.

Hi all
Been invited to a harvest thanksgiving lunch today, then organ duty this afternoon. It's all go, hey! Then, a cheese on toast supper at the manse. How can we cope? Just been looking for cures for too many "escapades", but can't find any. Nothing on prescription either, so I will just have to suffer.
A good weather day in prospect, as the equinox sunshine streams through our lounge window, so whatever you are up to, please enjoy and stay safe. |

Hi all
Following a porridge breakfast at Wetherspoon's this morning, my drift eventually took me to the Ricoh, where I bumped into a forum member, looking at the new railway station site. Whilst there, a time together over a Costa coffee was a delight. You see how the rigours of retirement pan out in Coventry. What a pip! |
