Years ago an older colleague at work had a little notice pinned above his desk. It read, 'D.I.R.M'. At times when everything was not going well we would generally have a moan, usually about the boss or about the job in general, and my friend would interject. He would point to his little notice and say, 'DOES IT REALLY MATTER'. Most of the time it did not, so we changed the subject and talked about something else, anything else really. What my old friend was telling us was that it is easy to get stressed about what were often only minor work related issues. Long after he had retired I used to try and follow his example and would take a step back from the problem and then often find it did not really matter in the bigger scheme of things. I do get stressed though, I think we all do if we admit it.

Hello, I love it, receiving responses on this topic. As long as we are not causing offence to anyone, reasoning out whatever. I like to think that our forum is a hotel lounge, members popping in & out, saying hello & how's things. Then Anne, reading a paper or magazine, suddenly calls to a friend "Have you seen this here?" A conversation then developing between them, whilst everyone else stops what they are doing to listen in. I don't have to imagine that, because it's fact & it's happening, almost like I describe. Rob & Neil in conversation about a photo. I looked in, to see if I could see the Alpha restaurant, near to the dome. Photo too early. Exciting all the same. I've seen something that has intrigued me today with thoughts which I will put in a fresh post. Carry on forum.

Hello again, Sometimes, someone can make a straightforward statement, that is actually very profound. Far more than the words that at first hearing, doesn't register. I can recall times where I or the finance team were getting no where with a set of accounts. If we were on a fee & reimbersable or even worse, a fixed price, we could be losing money spending time getting no where. Made worse if the basics accounts were squeaky clean, but issues had spiked with the business further down the line that indicated that something was going on. Then a chance comment picked up by one of our team, sent us down what we thought was a dead end, but when we got to the end & lifted the flag stone, it was crawling!!! That happened in Coventry 2005. The business branch closed & prosecution followed. Enough said, so no more on that. It's past & dealt with. I was reminded of a Psalm this morning that states, "God forgives as far as the East is from the West" Why didn't He say North from South. The answer is that there is a definite end to going south or north. East or West never ends. It's gone, never to come back. I believe that Scripture is Gods Word penned by a human. Some say it's a poem written by David, a Sheppard, with no university for him, three or four thousand years ago. He must have been very bright spark. I do hope that you enjoy that, I still can't ask for Mike to pass the port as that will clash with my pill, but my sentiment of love is there just the same. Love to you all.
