Spon Street

Great pics William. People just don't like to venture in to Coventry City centre at night nowadays unfortunately.

Here's a super find! I have been in touch with a lady who runs the Spon Street FB page. From our conversation her husband is a hairdresser who has been working in the street for 35 years. Someone has finally taken the initiative and it's great to see that No.14 Spon Street is being renovated. What is so exciting though is what has been preserved and has been hidden away in the old passageway to what would've been the old Court to the side (Courts 3 &5?). If you take a look at Rob's image of the old Pub The Recruiting Sergeant - Those old Facia signs are still there! I've asked for some more pics if possible - might even pop down there for a view myself!!

Fairly sure that this is Court 4 Spon End.

Brill Helen - was Court 4 lost to the creation of Melbourne Road do you know? Looks like it went straight through it.

I would have thought so, although it may have been on the slate for demolition anyway.
