Today,
Our new Lord Mayor.
It was almost a full election of officers council meeting, with nominations that were proposed & seconded.
This takes me back to my grammar school days where official celebrations were held in the Cathedral. In the past, I've often wondered why a civil meeting needs to be held in a place of Worship, I used to think it was demeaning, but the answer is quite simple. Christ was asked a similar question, where He replied by asking who is represented on a coin. Then render to our leaders what is theres.
Our councillors all met in one section of the cathedral, answering to the nomination responses. Every political view was there, along with every religious or nonreligious view represented.
They are our city representatives, for that I'm to pray for them. How fortunate we are to have these generally upstanding, hard-working officials that we have elected. The folk in many parts of the world have no such blessing.
I certainly wish them well for the leading of our city.

Rachel certainly seems to add a welcome touch of glamour to Coventry's Lord Mayorship - and by all accounts, a lovely person, too.

You've not Googled her past indiscretions, I take it?

I didn't find anything astonishing, but maybe I haven't searched long enough.
The perils of social media. I'm glad I'm not a politician because I'm regularly surprised by what phrases or symbols are apparently insulting to a specific group. We've all inadvertently insulted somebody by using something outdated but 'window licking' clearly wasn't meant to be complimentary.

Not just her ill-advised social media posts. The Coventry Observer reported on her flouting of planning regulations.

Hello,
For me, the problem for any councillor is that if they are a true representative of their ward, no matter their own views, sometimes they have to go with the flow. We enjoyed the company of a Coventry councillor on our forum team for many years where we saw this kind of issue. Plus the fact, that councillors are elected & get thrust into areas way outside of any specific expertise or even experience.
We want democracy, but that comes at that kind of price.

Hello,
I've no further news regards the investigation into the Henley College arson, but a pattern appears to be emerging of very young people involved in arson. A huge mall centre fire in Northampton last weekend has news reports of youngsters being arrested for that.
What do we think regards our own city. There's nothing new regards children & arson. President Kennedy school near where I live suffered such forty years ago.

Hello,
Motorists,
Please be aware than some privately controlled car parks, ask for your time period upon entry. If for whatsoever reason the data isn't entered exactly, a default setting automatically charges an indefinite period.
Can anyone on here confirm this.
I'm being told that some visitors to the Hare & Hounds in Watery Lane have been charged £100 for a visit.
This could be fake but I don't know.
