Just a heads up for anyone visiting LRC today. I was there yesterday and seems with the current bin strike people have taken the opportunity to use the cemetery bin hoppers to fill with their regular household rubbish rather than the memorial waste/old flowers etc. leaving them overflowing and rubbish everywhere. You may need to take any waste you have home.

How mean. There must be more respectful places to dump rubbish. I don't know if there are tips open but if they are, they're rarely very far away.

Helen, the daft thing is the Coventry Waste Disposal Unit (tip) is literally across the road from LRC. Edited by member, 6th Jan 2022 2:07 pm

Yes argon. CCC started that when Covid kicked off and have retained the system. To be fair it actually works quite well.

For the duration of the bin men's strike (now possibly extended until March), temporary drop sites for bagged waste have been set up at: - War Memorial Park car park (main car park) - Hearsall Common (off Beechwood Ave) - Cheylesmore car park (off New Union Street) - Sowe Common car park - Wyken Slough (off Aldermans Green Road) - Leicester Row car park No booking required.

If the council up there is as efficient as down here you could probably parcel up your rubbish and post it to any department as it will probably take them two months to process the parcel and by then the rubbish can safely put out for collection.

That’s why people left a tip on top of the dustbin if they were not in at Christmas. Thumbs up

I did that when Coates delivered my sacks of coke. Each sack they emptied in they would place a board across to stop the coke from falling out. You wouldn't see them do that these days. Those were the days we had to convert to smokeless fuel.

Lol There was a comedian who said that you know when you've truly reached adulthood when you start to worry which bin collection it is that week.
