Lower Precinct Circular Cafe (Rotunda)

Apols if I have already posted this one before as it appears it was already in my 'collection' but it's a super interesting shot with the 'new' Lower Precinct going in and the 'old' City Arms still visible, showing the difference in line of Smithford Street and the Precinct.

I worked at the Round Cafe, when I was still at school, in 1964 and part of 65 and, yes the doughnuts were delicious. The company that owned it also owned the milkshake bar across the way and sometimes one of us was sent over there to work. No training - I still don't remember how we managed.

Where was the milkshake bar l2002?

Hello, I remember two "Milk Shake Bars". One in White St & one in the lower precinct that I think became the pancake parlour. In addition, there used to be a milkbar, that became the copper kettle. Cafes used to be re-branded just like they are now. Hope that helps.

Hello, It might need a layout diagram regards the precinct, as frontage sizes have changed continuously since the early fifties. One of them may have been the precinct entrance to the Co-op. I've expressed all that I can remember from nearly eighty years ago. Maybe someone can find an allotment diagram. Like nowadays, I paid more attention to the food.

It was owned by the same company that owned the Pancake Parlour just across the way on the top level of shops.
