Thanks so much for that. I'll see if my anyone remembers Mr Brimfield's shop.
Adding here as it's been previously referenced. A gentleman called Peter Wright added a few pictures on FB taken by his father just before war broke out. You can see Brimfields shop opposite in this one taken from within Bonds Hospital - Thanks to Peter for allowing me to share here -

Just thought I should give a mention to the chip shop of my childhood. Morris's ? on the corner of Rollason Road opposite Cross Road on the Foleshill Road. You usually had to join the queue. Great fish & chips. Chips were small, 2 old pennies, or 3 for a large bag. Those really were the good old days.

Sorry need to correct you, Rollason Rd and Cross Rd are in totally different areas. Rollason Rd runs parallel to Burnaby Rd, Radford and Cross Rd runs between Foleshill Rd and Stoney Stanton Rd.

Always been a bit confused with the term 'fish shop' whether that refers to a fish and chip shop or a wet fish (fishmongers) shop or half and half even.
My late grandmother used to tell me tales of her working in her fish grandma's shop (as she referred her to me to differentiate between her paternal and maternal grandmother) which was located in Windsor Street, possibly The Butts in the early decades of the 20th century.
I'd be grateful if anyone has access to any records that would locate said premises.

Or was it possibly Mason Road with the butcher's shop on the other corner? I lived nearby in Churchill Ave.

I think the butcher's was Ron Keightley, and my aunt was a customer of his, living not far away in Fisher Road. He had a sister - think her name was Mary - who lived in a bungalow near the Peeping Tom at Westwood Heath. She was the boss (owner maybe) of a finance firm in Queen's Road. She was a customer of my parents' shop in Cannon Hill. I did one or two jobs at her bungalow.
I remember the first time I did a job. She asked me how much she owed me. I asked her for £10. She was a confident woman, not the sort to be messed with. She gave me a look of disapproval. So, being a young'un, and nowhere near as confident as she, quaking in mi boots, I was, thinking "heck, she thinks I'm overcharging".
She then thrust £12 into my hand, and said "Now then, young man: the first rule of business - never undercharge"!
