Not sure if it's my laptop but the images struggle to open for me. Although they do have an option to open in a Workspace to further examine/edit and zoom to give some nice detail. I think this was the one we had the lamp-post debate over some time ago

There is a series of untitled pictures, starting at 669516 If you increment the last number in the browser bar, you can see some others. Up to 669526, at least.

No it's not this image (from 1932), the one I uploaded was 'Untitled' (but dated 1939) as in the link given by Helen in post 526.

Another excellent find here from the Coventry Smorgasbord FB page. I always thought the bridge over the Sherbourne ran more at the Fleet Street junction although looking at BFA the river appears to flow as if it's directly under the City Arms which I think that must be behind. I can't get a good view of the south face of the Pub/Hotel to compare - Workmen cleaning out the river bed near the junction of Fleet Street with Smithford Street in 1945.

I don't think that the photo shows the City Arms but the buildings that stood on the east corner of West Orchard and Fleet Street, putting the view looking north over Smithford Street/Fleet Street. The City Arms was separated from the river by West Orchard and other buildings. Before the war the building would have been the Co-Op but it looks like a single storey stood there afterwards, maybe built from the ruins? Alternatively it could be looking across West Orchard towards the back of the same building but I favour the first option. Could the bit over the river be this doorway?

Brill as usual Helen I was getting confused looking at this BFA Image. I initially thought the river was the red line but can now see it's the blue one - Reckon you are spot on (BFA image is 1950).

From the excellent Coventry Smorgasbord FB page - March 1941 - Men with pneumatic drills engaged in demolition work on the top of a building at the corner of Smithford Street and Broadgate. I think it could be on the roof of the Burton's building, possibly?
