Good heavens, I remember when you could go into any record shop and listen to the record in the cubical first. More often than not you would land up buying it anyway. All the fun of buying the music has been kicked out now. Does Jill Hanson ring any bells. Who were the other music shops in Coventry ? Remind me somebody. Happy

I think Woolworths sold records but under their own brand but cannot remember the name that was on the label.

Woolies did sell covers of hit parade songs in the 60's on a label called Embassy. I bought quite a few records from Brains' including my first James Taylor and Moody Blues album, on the corner of Primrose Hill St and upstairs in Boots in Corporation St where they had a couple of listening booths.

For former record shops, how about Fennels. Compilation labels from Woolies, the ones that come to mind; •  K-Tel •  Ronco •  Pickwick and one I'm not too sure, was something like Top Of The Pops......

My first 45 was from Woolworths on Embassy Records. Charlie Drake singing "Please Mr Custer"
