Just been looking at this one on BFA. It's staggering how many fabulous properties survived the War but were lost to the Ring Road. Just look at what St Patricks Road was - must've clearly been a prestigious address to have had at the time. I've also marked crosses as landmarks - 1) Court 20 Little Park Street aka Little Palace Yard 2) The Kings Head as pictured above 3) The Rocket

Some of the existing properties on St Patricks Road today seem pretty prestigious, which would suggest it has prestigious origins.

The recent posts on this topic brings back my 1950's memory of St Patrick's road being our by-pass of the city centre on our frequent visits to relatives in South Wales. When travelling by motorbike and sidecar we would leave Wyken via Hipswell Highway, Binley Rd., Gulson Rd., Parkside, St Patrick's Rd., Warwick Rd. and then take the Daventry Rd. to by-pass Kenilworth, rejoining the A46 before Warwick.
I recall the spooky bombed out houses, with torn blackout cloth blowing from the shattered windows, near the Warwick Road end of St Patrick's Road and always wondered why the houses had not been repaired, unlike the semi opposite our house after I was told an unexploded bomb had smashed through the roof and floors. I suppose the Council had their plans in mind for the Ring Road.
I have marked where I believe the bombed houses were on EAW051844 quoted by NY above.
