I have just taken a walk down Goring Road via courtesy of Google maps. There are definitely two or three styles. No 44 belongs to the main style. No 16 is very different. Logic would say No 16 was built first, but it does not look like it.
The main group looks as though they were built by the same builder, they are of a pattern.
I would put a photo on here but not sure of Google's copyright rules for forums. Estate agents use their photos all the time, but perhaps they have a licence.

Google tend to be relaxed about use of their features, maps, images, etc., for personal or educational use (the latter of which I like to think our forum covers), so I'd definitely go ahead and use a Google image with a small acknowledgement of its origin.

Am I correct in recognising Stoke Council Schools left middle distance in the top photo? When I walked past for the last time in 1988 on returning to Coventry for my father's funeral the bulldozers had just set to work on their demolition.

Yes, but what were the original buildings?

I presume you're referring to the flattened ground on the corner between the road and billboards.
If so, the shape and layout of the ground suggests possibly something like a petrol station forecourt, in the days before the big supermarket fuel stations.
Also, if I recall, there used to be a car repair garage around that area, close to that junction, circa 1980's.

Hello Mike,
Yes, the garage was on the corner of Coventry St. I knew the proprietor, Mr. Tanzer. He was a vintage vehicle restorer.
It may have been a decorators shop that I'm thinking of, possibly even a Co-op.
Thank you for being so helpful.

There was a car repair garage just behind the chippy.
Of note, are the two long rows of trees on Dane Road:

Hello,
Thank you for your sky-high pictures. The high ground in the far distance might be Derbyshire. I'm not sure as I can't see the Bulkington power station to get my bearings. If it's east, it may be the Dassett Hills, Northamptonshire.
Any map people about?
Ps. I've just worked out the power station location

Hello,
Pam & I were on the top deck of a bus travelling from Lincoln, where in the distance we could see Foleshill gas works, Ctlds chimney & the Jack-block.
The Dassett Hills I'm sure are in the distance on the Clay Lane facing photo. These are fabulous pictures. Thank you.
